ISA closed the year with historic financial results, as well as increases in revenues, net income and new investments committed to its businesses. These developments generated greater value for its shareholders and stakeholders, and strengthened its competitive position in the countries where it operates.
At the end of 2023, net income amounted to COP 2.5 trillion, an increase of 12% compared to 2022. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) amounted to COP 9.1 trillion, an increase of 6% with respect to the previous year, and investments made (capex) reached COP 4.6 trillion. The projects currently under execution will enable the entry of non-conventional renewable energy sources, the implementation of new technologies and the strengthening of the transmission grid.
The projects awarded to ISA in the fourth quarter of 2023 will represent investments of COP 2.9 trillion in Brazil, Colombia, and Peru, and in roads in Chile. With these awards, ISA accumulates a balance of committed investments, pending execution, of COP 29.9 trillion as of 2030.
“These results demonstrate the company’s excellent position with respect to fulfilling its expansion and value generation strategy. We will continue working in 2024 on the execution of our investment commitments and looking for new scenarios and opportunities to continue expanding ISA’s footprint in the region. Our commitment is to ensure the creation of sustainable value, and to move forward with our commitment to accelerate the energy transition,” said Gabriel Melguizo Posada, ISA´s Interim CEO.
Milestones for 2023 include:
- In Colombia, ISA, through ISA Intercolombia, delivered the Sabanalarga – Bolivar 500kV Interconnection Project, which strengthens the National Transmission System. The project consisted of the construction of a new 66 km transmission line between the Sabanalarga and Bolívar substations, as well as the expansion of both substations, deploying electrical infrastructure in the municipalities of Sabanalarga, Piojó and Luruaco, in the department of Atlántico, and Santa Catalina, Clemencia, Villanueva and Santa Rosa, in the department of Bolívar.
- In Brazil, ISA CTEEP was awarded three lots to build, operate and maintain energy transmission systems, auctioned by the National Electric Power Agency (ANEEL), consolidating its position as the company with the largest number of projects awarded in this bidding.
- In Roads, with Intervial Chile, we entered the interurban road business. The company submitted the best bid to design, build and operate the Santiago Orbital Sur Concession, which will benefit close to half a million Chileans and reduce their travel times.
- In Peru, the award of the TOCE/CEPI project, in conjunction with Grupo Energía de Bogotá, grants the construction of more than 1,000 kilometers of 500 kV transmission lines. This project has a reference capex of USD 833 million, and revenues of USD 83.5 million per year, once in operation.
- Also in Peru, we commissioned the COYA project, the largest energy transmission project in Peru in the last six years. This project will benefit more than 12 million Peruvians and will be key to advancing regional electrical integration, strengthening the grid for future connections with Bolivia, Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, and Brazil.
As a result of its focus on generating sustainable value, ISA was recognized by ALAS20 as a leading company in investor relations, and as the third leading company in sustainability in Colombia. ISA was also recognized among the top 20 energy companies worldwide in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, with the highest possible score in categories such as transparency and reporting, innovation, human rights, and stakeholder engagement.
