- These are the first two projects tendered this year by the UPME and include the installation of two 500/230 kV transformers in the Primavera and Sogamoso substations, owned by ISA.
- The projects awarded to ISA add up to annual revenues of USD 2.8 million and will increase the reliability of the Colombian electric power system, contributing significantly to strengthening the energy matrix and improving the resilience of the system in the face of increased demand.
ISA begins the year with the award of the first two energy transmission projects tendered this year in Colombia by the Energy Mining Planning Unit (UPME).
The projects include the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the second 500/230 kV transformer in the Primavera substation, and the fourth transformer of the same characteristics in the Sogamoso substation; the two substations to be intervened are operating assets of ISA, are located in the department of Santander, and are scheduled to enter into commercial operation on October 31, 2025. Together, the awarded projects have a net present value of future revenues of USD 23.47 million, bringing annual revenues of USD 2.8 million to ISA.
ISA closed 2023 with committed investments in electric power transmission projects in Latin America that amounted to more than USD 1.9 billion and through which 4,052 km of circuit and 6,060 MVA of transformation will be developed. This achievement in the UPME tenders is a reflection of the operational excellence that has characterized the company and reaffirms its commitment to continue contributing to the growth and stability of the energy sector in Colombia and as a key player in the positive transformation of the energy industry in Latin America.

The reactivation of public calls for energy transmission in the country will contribute significantly to the strengthening of the national energy infrastructure, allowing the incorporation of new generation projects, especially focused on unconventional sources that will help diversify the energy matrix and promote sustainability and efficiency in the production and transmission of electric power.
About the Primavera substation
The Primavera substation, located in Cimitarra (Santander), allows power generation systems to be connected between Antioquia and Santander. The substation transforms energy between 500 and 220 kV, thus allowing the distribution of the La Miel, Sogamoso, and Porce hydroelectric plants to the grids of the National Transmission System.
About the Sogamoso substation
The Sogamoso substation, located in Betulia (Santander), is owned by ISA, built by its affiliate INTERCOLOMBIA, and entered into operation in August 2014. The Sogamoso substation transforms energy between 500 and 220 kV, thus allowing to benefit from the capacity of the Sogamoso, Merieléctrica, and Tasajero plants, improving the quality and reliability of the system, while meeting the growth of the country’s future demand.
