- The great response to the strategy exceeded the initial expectation of administering 26.000 doses in 16 municipalities of the department.
- In order to achieve this, mobile classrooms (buses), a helicopter and even vaccinators on foot were used.
The alliance between ISA and the One Health Genomic Laboratory of the National University of Colombia, Medellin campus, to facilitate the arrival of vaccines to territories with difficult access allowed the vaccination of more than 51.000 people in 54 municipalities of Antioquia.
The favorable results reported at the end of the initiative are the result of a unique strategy in the country that, by means of adapted buses, a helicopter, small vehicles and even vaccinators on foot, was able to facilitate the arrival of vaccine doses to hard-to-reach areas in the department to mitigate the immunization gap.

“These satisfactory results confirm our commitment to the economic reactivation of the country, committed to generating value over time with a positive impact on the communities with which we interact. We are thrilled to have reached those who need us most,” stated María Adelaida Correa, Corporate Sustainability Director at ISA.
This initiative adds to the achievements of the Todos Somos Uno program of ISA and its companies, through which resources of more than USD 5 million have been contributed to Latin America to improve hospital capacity, promote scientific developments, and support communities in their most urgent needs in the midst of the pandemic.
“The alliance with ISA’s Todos Somos Uno program allowed us to carry out free molecular diagnostics during 2020 in 7 departments, 22 municipalities and bring a message of reality about COVID-19 to more than 7 thousand households. In 2021, it evolved by setting up a mobile vaccination platform, vaccinating more than 51.000 people in 54 municipalities. Today that we are ending this strategy, we would like to thank ISA, the Government of Antioquia, the National University, Ips Medyreh and all those who made it possible for us to contribute to the process of safe reactivation of the country” stated Juan Pablo Hernández-Ortiz, director of the Colombia/Wisconsin One Health Consortium and the One Health Genomic Laboratory.
In short, the collaborative effort between the health and logistics personnel, the Government of Antioquia and the municipalities’ mayors’ offices and health secretariats made it possible to contribute to meeting the vaccination objectives, bringing a message of hope to the population.
