ISA INTERVIAL, which has more than 20 years of experience in PPP projects, presented the best economic offer at the opening of the bidding process carried out by the Chilean Ministry of Public Works (MOP) for the “Santiago Orbital Sur Concession” project. This is the first urban project to be driven by ISA, bringing the total number of routes under construction and operation in Chile and Colombia to 860 kilometers.
The project includes the construction of a new 25-kilometer urban highway that will connect the western and eastern zones of Greater Santiago with the current Ruta 78, Ruta 5 Sur and Ruta 79 concessions, which will facilitate mobility on one of the main exits from the country’s capital.
The “Santiago Orbital Sur Concession” will improve connectivity, reinforce road safety, and promote economic and local development, which will positively impact the quality of life of its users. Its design includes high-standard infrastructure works, including a free flow toll (electronic toll collection). These works will benefit close to half a million people, reducing travel times by more than 30 minutes.

“This result marks a new milestone towards the achievement of our strategy of consolidation and growth of the roads business unit in the region and ratifies our commitment to the development and progress of the countries where we operate. We are proud to continue to be a relevant player in the Chilean road market, and with this project, which will incorporate the free flow system, we continue to contribute from road concessions to the energy transition, since it reduces CO2 emissions from vehicles that will not need to stop to make the payment”, explained Juan Emilio Posada, ISA’s CEO.
The official investment budget estimated by the MOP amounts to USD 505 million. It could start its construction phase in 2027 and enter operation during 2030.
