The new Carrieles 230 kV Substation and associated transmission lines, located in the Department of Antioquia.
The Energy Mining Planning Unit (UPME) awarded this project to ISA through a public bidding process, consisting of the construction, operation, and maintenance of the new Carrieles 230 kV substation and associated transmission lines. This new project will allow to meet the electric power demand growth, as well as to improve the service’s reliability and assurance in the Southwest of Antioquia.
The project is part of the 2017-2031 Transmission-Generation Expansion Plan. It also includes the construction of a 230 kV double-circuit line with an approximate length of 8 km, from the new Carrieles 230 kV substation until intercepting the existing Ancón Sur – Esmeralda II 230 kV line.
Additionally, the corresponding environmental management programs will be executed for protecting and preserving natural resources, flora, and fauna in the area, and also the social management program in the project’s direct area of influence.
This project must be in operation on January 31, 2025, when ISA will start receiving annual revenues for USD 1,5 million (December 2020 US dollars).
The Group’s affiliate ISA INTERCOLOMBIA will be in charge of the project’s execution and operation.
